Law money 09

MIAMI — A consumer is suing Cavalry Portfolio Services LLC, a debt collector, citing alleged misrepresentation in debt collection.

Manar Amireh filed a complaint on Nov. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Cavalry Portfolio Services LLC, claiming that the debt collector attempted to collect an alleged debt from the plaintiff without informing of the possibility of revived restrictions.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff claims damages from receiving a 2016 collection letter that contained misrepresentations regarding a debt. The plaintiff holds Cavalry Portfolio Services, LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to inform the plaintiff that any payment made on the debt would revive the applicable limitations.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory and actual damages, injunction against the defendant, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Jibrael S. Hindi of The Law Offices of Jibrael S. Hindi in Fort Lauderdale and Thomas J. Patti of Thomas-John Law, P.A. in Fort Lauderdale.
