Woman claims retirement center operator failed to pay her overtime wages

PALM BEACH — A woman is suing Lifespace Communities, Inc., a retirement center operator, citing alleged unpaid wages and violation of workers compensation acts.

Gloria Pinkney Spencer filed a complaint on Nov. 21, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida Palm Beach Division against Lifespace Communities, Inc. alleging that the employer failed to pay fair wages to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked for more than 40 hours without being paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds Lifespace Communities, Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the plaintiff any overtime premium for working more than 40 hours.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks overtime compensation, liquidated damages, all legal fees and interest, plus any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Richard Celler of Richard Celler Legal, P.A. in Davie.
