KEY WEST – A Miami-Dade man has filed a class-action lawsuit against his Key West employer alleging that it failed to pay a fair compensation to him and terminated him in retaliation.
Oscar Paradela filed a complaint on behalf of other similarly situated individuals on Nov. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Key West Division against Ralons Security LLC, also known as Ralon's Security LLC, and Luis Requejo alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he worked for more than 40 hours without being paid any overtime compensation from January to September. He alleges he was terminated in September because of his complaints about not receiving overtime. The plaintiff holds Ralons Security LLC and Requejo responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay plaintiff any overtime premium for hours worked that exceeds 40 per week.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, liquidated damages, all legal fees, back pay, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Zandro E. Palma of Zandro E. Palma PA in Miami.
