TAMPA – An attorney from The Florida Law Group has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star of 2016.

Kevin M. Sparkman, a Tampa personal injury and medical malpractice lawyer, has once again made the list of attorneys honored in the Super Lawyers Rising Stars category this year. In his professional experience practicing personal injury law, Sparkman has been recognized by the organization for the same award in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Sparkman was recognized in the areas of personal injury – general: plaintiff.

Super Lawyers releases a list of top lawyers in 70 practice areas every year. The attorneys included in this group make up for only the top five percent of the lawyers in the state. In addition to the criteria set by the organization, attorneys who are under the age of 40 and have only been in practice for less than 10 years are eligible to be nominated for the Super Lawyers Rising Stars award.

Attorneys recognized as one of the Super Lawyers Rising Stars are part of the top 2.5 percent in the state. The awardees have been nominated by their peers and undergo rigorous evaluation before making the list. The selection committee considers factors such as educational attainment, as well as bar and professional activities of the nominees. The representative clients along with the verdicts and settlements they bring in also account for points in the deliberation. Additionally, honors and awards are part of the criteria used.

Sparkman, who handles mostly auto accident cases, served as a prosecutor before joining The Florida Group. His law firm noted that his primary objective as a lawyer is to assist his clients in successfully receiving the most favorable result in every situation. Sparkman has been described as an attorney who exerts extra effort to settle issues among different parties through amicable negotiations.

Throughout his legal career, Sparkman has been taking part in different organizations. Currently, he is a recognized member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, Manatee County Bar Association, American Association of Justice, St. Petersburg Bar Association, Clearwater Bar Association, Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section, Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association and Florida Justice Association.

Sparkman co-authored the appellate brief in Coyle v. Coyle, So.2d, which is an opinion piece published in Florida Law Weekly. He graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in history. He obtained his juris doctor in 2003 from the Levin College of Law of the University of Florida.
