MasTec, MCI allegedly failed to pay overtime wages to employee

WEST PALM BEACH — A man has filed suit against his previous employers for allegedly failing to pay him overtime wages.

Patrick Puzo filed a complaint Sept. 16 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against the defendants, alleging that they violated the rights of the employee to receive benefits of employment.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was hired by defendant MBI to work for defendant MasTec and the plaintiff worked more than 40 hours each week, but was not paid overtime as required by law. The plaintiff claims he also instructed by his supervisor to always put the scheduled end time on his payroll worksheets, even though he was required to work until the job was completed. As a result of the defendants’ actions, the plaintiff has suffered damages including unpaid wages and counsel fees.

The plaintiff holds MBI Consultants Inc. and MasTec Network Solutions LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to make appropriate taxes and Medicare contributions, failed to compensate the plaintiff for overtime work and failed to keep a record of the plaintiff's workhours.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants, to be awarded $5,000 in damages or actual damages, whichever is higher, attorney's fees, costs and further relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Robyn S. Hankins of Robyn S. Hankins PL in Jupiter.
