Cyclist alleges he was struck by USPS employee in Delray Beach

Car accident 06

MIAMI – A Delray Beach man alleges he was struck by a United States Postal Service employee while riding his bicycle.

Edward Basile filed a complaint on Sept. 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against United States of America citing negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 18, 2014, while he was riding his bicycle traveling westbound on Linton Boulevard, postal worker Glenda Williams, driving another vehicle, collided with the bicycle plaintiff was operating. The plaintiff alleges he suffered bodily injury, disfigurement, mental anguish, expense of hospitalization, lost earnings and aggravation of a previously existing condition.

The plaintiff holds United States of America responsible because the defendant's employee failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles along the roadway and failed to operate motor vehicle with sufficient control.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages against the defendant, in a sum of money in excess of the jurisdictional amount plus costs of action and other relief deemed just. He is represented by Matthew Rabin of Reifkind, Thompson & Rudzinski PL in Davie.
