MIAMI — A former call center representative has filed suit against her previous employer for alleged sexual discrimination and unpaid wages.
Agelie Clarke filed a complaint Sept. 12 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against First Data Merchant Services LLC, alleging that the employer failed to provide the plaintiff fair compensation for her work. She also alleges she was discriminated against because of her gender.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, between 2006 and 2014, she suffered damages from being discriminated based on her gender, failing to pay her the same hourly rate as male coworkers and terminating her position after one violation. The plaintiff holds First Data Merchant Services LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly paid a higher hourly rate to male employers despite the plaintiff having a longer tenure than her male counterparts.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks reinstatement, damages, punitive damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Richard Celler and Noah E. Storch of Richard Celler Legal P.A. in Davie.
