MIAMI – A Carnival Fantasy passenger alleges the bones in his thumb were shattered after an incident aboard the cruise ship.
Corbin Hardwick filed a complaint on April 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Carnival Corp., doing business as Carnival Cruise Line, citing negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 19, when he was attempting to close the steel porthole cover in his cabin, the cover slipped from his hand and slammed down on his other thumb, shattering the bones into numerous pieces. The plaintiff holds Carnival Cruise Line responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly maintain and inspect the cover, failed to warn him and failed to properly train and supervise its crew that such incident could have been avoided.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages suffered, past present and future expenses, all court costs, prejudgment and post-judgment interest and for any and all other relief which the court may deem just or appropriate.
