Woman files suit against Prudential seeking disability benefits

Insurance 08

ORLANDO – A woman alleges her insurance company wrongfully denied her long-term disability benefits.

Kaylynn Hebert filed a complaint on April 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division against The Prudential Insurance Co. of America alleging that the plan fiduciary violated the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant wrongfully denied her benefits under the long-term disability plan. The plaintiff holds The Prudential Insurance Co. of America responsible because the defendant allegedly subjected her to an unreasonable claims process.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for benefits due, plus interest, attorneys' fees and costs and such other relief that the court may deem appropriate. She is represented by William S. Coffman of Coffman Law in Tampa.
