TAMPA – A female firefighter is suing city of Tampa alleging that she was harassed and denied a promotion because of her gender.

Tanja Vidovic filed a complaint on March 23 in the Tampa Division of the Middle District of Florida against the city of Tampa, citing gender discrimination, sexual harassment/hostile work environment and retaliation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered damages, emotional distress, mental anguish and denied a promotion despite her qualifications. The plaintiff holds the city of Tampa responsible because the defendant allegedly intentionally subjected her to numerous adverse employment actions and intentionally discriminated against her because she is a female and treated similarly-situated employees outside her protected class.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages, back pay, benefits, plus interest, attorneys' fees and costs, promotion to driver/engineer and salary increase and any other equitable relief as the court may deem appropriate. She is represented by Wendolyn S. Busch of Wendolyn S. Busch PA in Odessa.
