Paycheck

ORLANDO – An Orlando daycare teacher alleges she was terminated after complaining about unpaid wages.

Aricelis C. Alvarez filed a complaint on March 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division against Big Children's Academy LLC and Jeamy Enid Quiles Lopez, citing retaliatory discharge and violations of the minimum wage provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was not paid for all hours worked. The plaintiff holds Big Children's Academy LLC and Quiles Lopez responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to compensate her at a rate not less than the minimum wage rate as required by Fair Labor Standards Act, purportedly terminated her from work for complaining about her unpaid wages and keep accurate time records.

The plaintiff seeks the following: an order for her reinstatement; back pay and front pay, liquidated damages, prejudgment and post-judgment interest, attorneys' fees and costs; and any other relief that the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Daniel A. Perez of Hogan & Hogan PA in Orlando.
