Man sues security company in overtime claim

MIAMI — A man who worked as a loss prevention specialist is suing his former employer, claiming he was not paid properly for overtime.

Richard A. Nelson sued U.S. Security Associates Inc. on March 1 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, claiming the company willfully violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The plaintiff alleges that, between Sept. 25, 2014, and Nov. 24, 2015, he did not receive proper overtime compensation from the defendant.

The plaintiff seeks compensation for all unpaid overtime due, reasonable attorney’s fees and costs and any further relief that is just. He is represented by Robert S. Norell of Robert S. Norell, P.A. in Plantation.
