MIAMI – The federal government is suing a St. Lucie County man who allegedly defaulted on a student loan from the Department of Education dating back to 2000.

The United States of America filed a lawsuit Dec. 31, 2015, in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Hans Kraaz, alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, Kraaz borrowed $37,420.45 from the Department of Education on April 20, 2000, under the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program.
