A tragic incident at a Delray Beach bar has led to a significant legal battle, with the plaintiff alleging severe consequences from a night out gone wrong. Mark G. Keegan filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on April 24, 2025, against Tin Roof Acquisition Company, LLC and Sure Ring, Inc., claiming that he was poisoned at Tin Roof Delray Beach.

The case centers around an event on August 30, 2022, when Keegan visited Tin Roof Delray Beach with two companions. According to the complaint, Keegan was served a drink by a bartender at the venue which led to immediate and severe physical reactions including profuse sweating, vertigo, nausea, and loss of consciousness for over twelve hours. The plaintiff asserts that this incident triggered chronic health issues such as migraines and PTSD, significantly impacting his career as a trial attorney. "What followed was not recovery — it was descent," Keegan stated in his filing.

Keegan accuses Tin Roof of negligence in several areas: serving a contaminated drink, failing to supervise employees adequately, lacking proper surveillance systems, and neglecting to investigate the incident thoroughly. Furthermore, he alleges that Sure Ring failed in its duty as the property owner by not ensuring safe operations on its premises. Despite notifying Tin Roof about the poisoning shortly after it occurred and receiving acknowledgment from their Risk Management Director Ryan Madgett about missing surveillance footage—a critical breach of evidence preservation—Keegan claims no meaningful action was taken by the defendants.

In addition to seeking compensatory damages exceeding $50,000 for medical expenses and loss of income due to his inability to practice law effectively post-incident, Keegan is also pursuing punitive damages citing gross negligence on part of the defendants. He describes how his professional identity as a high-functioning litigator has been shattered due to neurological and psychological trauma caused by what he terms "reckless conduct" by Tin Roof.

Keegan's legal representation comes from himself through his firm Keegan Law Group. The presiding judge over this matter is yet to be assigned as indicated by the placeholder for case number assignment within court documents. The case identification number is 502025CA004154XXXAMB Div: AD.
