A Palm Beach County resident has taken legal action against a major retail corporation, alleging negligence that led to personal injury. On March 14, 2025, Gwendolyn Mornese Strange filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, accusing Walmart Inc. of failing to maintain safe premises.

The lawsuit arises from an incident on August 9, 2024, when Strange visited a Walmart store located at 3625 Federal Hwy, Boynton Beach, Florida. According to the complaint, Strange was lawfully on the premises as a business invitee when she slipped and fell due to a wet substance on the floor. The plaintiff claims that Walmart Inc., as the owner and operator of the store, was responsible for maintaining a safe environment and failed in its duty by allowing hazardous conditions to persist.

Strange's complaint outlines several allegations against Walmart Inc., including negligence in maintaining dry floors where customers walk and failing to use mats or close off areas known for wet conditions. The plaintiff further accuses Walmart of inadequate cleaning and inspection procedures and neglecting to warn customers about potential dangers. As a result of these alleged failures, Strange claims she suffered serious injuries that have caused disability, discomfort, disfigurement, physical and mental pain and suffering, along with past and future medical expenses.

In her pursuit of justice, Strange is seeking compensatory damages exceeding $50,000 from Walmart Inc., exclusive of interest and costs. She demands a trial by jury for all issues triable as of right. The lawsuit highlights not only the physical toll but also the emotional impact such incidents can have on individuals.

Representing Gwendolyn Mornese Strange is attorney Octavio L. Martinez from Correa & Martinez law firm based in Miami. The case is filed under Case Number 502025CA002466XXXAMB.
