A legal storm is brewing in Palm Beach County, Florida, as two residents accuse their neighbor of a series of disturbing actions. On February 28, 2025, Adel Khalil and Joyce Christensen filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit against Janice L. Cairnes. The plaintiffs allege that Cairnes engaged in behavior intended to harass and intimidate them, including invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

According to the complaint, Khalil and Christensen have resided at 801 Lake Shore Drive, Unit 606, Lake Park, Florida since 2015. They claim that their neighbor, Janice L. Cairnes, who owns an adjacent unit and serves on the board of directors for the Lake Harbour Towers East Condominium Association, has exhibited bias and prejudice towards them. This animosity is believed to stem from racial motives against Khalil due to his foreign birth and ethnicity.

The plaintiffs recount a specific incident from December 2024 when Cairnes allegedly verbally assaulted Christensen in the building's lobby. Witnesses reportedly observed this altercation designed to cause emotional distress and embarrassment to Christensen. Furthermore, they accuse Cairnes of invading their privacy by taking unauthorized photographs of Khalil from her balcony using a cell phone camera. This act was purportedly executed by reaching around the dividing wall between their units.

Khalil and Christensen argue that these actions were not only unwarranted but also intended to drive them out of their home by creating mental hardship. The complaint states that all conditions precedent to filing this action have been met or waived.

The lawsuit comprises three counts: invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and trespass. In their invasion of privacy claim, they assert that Cairnes' conduct was highly offensive and intruded upon their private affairs using mechanical aids like her cellphone camera. For this count alone, they seek damages for violating their privacy rights.

In terms of emotional distress, the plaintiffs contend that Cairnes' verbal attacks and invasive actions were deliberate attempts to instill fear and disrupt their quiet enjoyment of life within their condominium unit. They describe her behavior as reckless and beyond decency's bounds—actions resulting in severe emotional turmoil for both individuals involved.

Lastly comes trespass; here too lies another grievance where it’s alleged without consent or permission from either party involved -Cairne unlawfully entered onto property dedicated solely under ownership rights held exclusively by these tenants themselves- breaching those very same privileges meant solely theirs alone!

Khalil & Christensen are seeking compensatory damages across all counts alongside punitive ones given how egregious each instance appears when taken together collectively speaking! They demand justice through trial-by-jury proceedings hoping ultimately fair resolution reached swiftly possible manner available under law today!
