A woman has taken legal action against a well-known supermarket chain, alleging negligence that led to a personal injury. Lisa Chanel Laurendeau filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 26, 2024, against Whole Foods Market Group, Inc.

According to the lawsuit, Laurendeau claims that on September 6, 2022, she visited the Whole Foods Market located at 1845 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd in West Palm Beach as a lawful invitee. While shopping in the produce section of the store, she unexpectedly slipped and fell due to water or liquid left on the floor. The complaint asserts that Whole Foods had a duty to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition but failed to do so. Laurendeau accuses Whole Foods of not properly maintaining and inspecting its floors and aisles to ensure they were free from hazardous conditions.

The lawsuit outlines several duties that Whole Foods allegedly neglected. These include maintaining floors and aisles in a safe condition, inspecting them regularly for hazards, using reasonable care to keep the premises free from known slipping hazards, and warning customers like Laurendeau about any dangerous conditions present. The plaintiff argues that these negligent conditions existed long enough for Whole Foods to have been aware of them or were directly caused by the store's actions.

As a result of this alleged negligence, Laurendeau claims she suffered injuries affecting her body and extremities, leading to pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses for treatment and care, physical handicap, impaired working ability, lost wages in the past and future earning capacity. She states that these injuries are either permanent or ongoing.

Laurendeau is seeking compensatory damages exceeding $50,000 exclusive of attorney's fees and costs. She also demands court costs and requests a jury trial for all issues eligible for such proceedings. Her attorneys are Robin A. Rios and Jesse N. Bernheim from Bernheim Kelley Battista LLC based in Fort Lauderdale.

The case ID is: 502024CA011298XXXAMB.
