Cynthia Boyd has filed a lawsuit against two companies, alleging negligence that resulted in her personal injury. The complaint was filed on November 14, 2024, in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, naming Resource Property Management, Inc., doing business as Patriot Square Condominium, and Acoma Roofing Inc. as defendants.
The case stems from an incident on January 13, 2023, when Boyd was walking on property owned by Resource Property Management (RPM) at 3590 40th Ave. S., St. Petersburg, Florida. According to the complaint, a blue tarp placed by Acoma Roofing blocked pedestrian pathways and caused Boyd to slip and fall. This fall resulted in significant injuries including a fractured right foot and ongoing balance issues. Boyd contends that RPM failed to adequately train its employees to warn residents about potential hazards like objects left on the floor in high-traffic areas. Similarly, she accuses Acoma of neglecting its duty to prevent hazards during roofing work.
Boyd's legal filing claims that both RPM and Acoma breached their duty of care by allowing a hazardous condition to exist and failing to address it despite knowing—or having reason to know—of its presence. She asserts that this negligence directly led to her injuries which have caused past and future physical pain and suffering, disability, loss of enjoyment of life, inconvenience, physical impairment, loss of earnings or earning capacity, aggravation of existing conditions, permanent injury within medical probability standards, and incurred medical expenses.
In her lawsuit, Boyd seeks damages exceeding $50,000 along with court costs. She demands a jury trial for these claims against RPM and Acoma Roofing Inc., hoping for a judgment reflecting the severity of her injuries and the alleged negligence of the defendants.
