Christian Rodriguez has filed a lawsuit against the City of Largo and one of its employees, Paul Amodeo, in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida. The complaint was electronically filed on October 29, 2024. Rodriguez alleges negligence and vicarious liability following a motor vehicle accident that occurred on November 28, 2022.

According to the complaint, Christian Rodriguez was involved in a car accident while driving his Honda Accord on SR 580 and W Frisco Drive in Clearwater, Florida. The incident took place when an unmarked police vehicle owned by the City of Largo and driven by Paul Amodeo failed to stop at a red light, causing a chain reaction collision. The police vehicle struck another car from behind, which then collided with Rodriguez's vehicle. As stated in the court documents, "Defendant, PAUL AMODEO, negligently operated or maintained said vehicle by failing to stop at the traffic ahead." This negligence is claimed to have resulted in severe bodily injuries for Rodriguez.

The lawsuit accuses both defendants of negligence and seeks damages exceeding $50,000. Rodriguez claims that as a result of the accident, he has suffered permanent injuries leading to physical and mental pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses both past and future, loss of earnings capacity, and aggravation of prior medical conditions. The plaintiff's complaint also includes a demand for jury trial on all issues triable by right.

Rodriguez is seeking judgment against both defendants for damages related to permanent injury, lost wages from the past and future potential earnings losses due to his injuries. He is also seeking compensation for medical expenses incurred as well as those anticipated in the future. Additionally, Rodriguez requests relief for non-economic damages such as pain and suffering along with costs associated with bringing this legal action forward.

The case is being handled by attorney Michael J. Winer from Winer Law Group based in Tampa. The law firm specializes in personal injury cases among other areas such as workers' compensation and social security disability claims. The presiding judge over this matter is yet to be named but it falls under Case Number: 24-004726-CI within Division: CIVIL DIVISION at Pinellas County’s Circuit Court.
