The tragic death of a nursing home resident has led to a lawsuit against the facility, alleging severe neglect and misconduct. The Estate of Ladonna D. Regan, represented by Eric D. Regan, filed a complaint on September 12, 2024, in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, against Menorah Manor, Inc.

According to the court documents, Ladonna Regan was admitted to Menorah Manor's nursing home for care and supervision due to ongoing medical conditions and cognitive changes. The plaintiff alleges that during her stay at the facility located at 255 59th St N, St. Petersburg, FL, Ladonna suffered from preventable injuries such as urinary tract infections and decubitus ulcers due to negligence by the staff. These injuries persisted until her death on January 31, 2024.

Eric D. Regan claims that Menorah Manor failed in its duty to provide reasonable care and supervision as mandated by Chapter 400 of Florida Statutes and other relevant regulations. The complaint lists numerous instances of alleged negligence including failure to prevent physical injury and abuse, improper assessment and response to skin breakdowns and infections, inadequate fall prevention measures, insufficient documentation of injuries, lack of communication with family members about serious changes in condition, poor hygiene maintenance, failure to follow physician’s orders regarding nutrition and hydration needs among others.

The lawsuit seeks damages exceeding $50,000 exclusive of costs and attorney fees for wrongful death caused by the defendant's negligence. Specifically, it demands compensation for medical bills and expenses incurred before Ladonna's death as well as funeral expenses. Additionally, it seeks damages for loss of net accumulations and mental pain suffered by survivors like George Regan who have endured significant emotional distress due to this incident.

Attorney Ryan G. Dwyer from Senior Justice Law Firm represents the plaintiff while Ken Burke serves as Clerk of the Circuit Court for Pinellas County where Judge Bart S. Carughel presides over this case under Case Number: 24-0041 13-CI.
