A cyclist's ride turned into a nightmare when she encountered hazardous debris on a public bike lane, leading to severe injuries and a lawsuit. Jessica Lynn Dunn filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, on September 10, 2024, against Cornerstone Solutions Group LLC and Lennar Homes LLC.

The incident occurred on March 20, 2024, when Dunn was lawfully riding her bike near the premises at 6560 95th PL N., Pinellas Park. A piece of rebar became entangled in her bike wheel, causing an abrupt stop and resulting in significant personal injuries. The plaintiff asserts that both defendants were negligent in maintaining their property, which led to the hazardous condition that caused her accident.

Dunn alleges that Cornerstone Solutions Group LLC and Lennar Homes LLC failed to keep their premises safe by allowing debris and construction materials to litter the public bike lane. She claims they breached their duty of care by not inspecting or remedying these dangerous conditions. "By failing to maintain the outdoor area of the premises in a reasonably safe condition," the complaint states, "the defendants allowed the presence of debris, rebar, and other construction materials to breach the public space of the bike lane."

As a result of this negligence, Dunn has suffered from pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, loss of capacity for enjoyment of life, medical expenses, loss of earnings, and possibly an aggravation of pre-existing conditions. She contends that some injuries are permanent or continuing in nature and will impair her future quality of life.

Dunn is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 from both defendants for medical costs, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other related expenses. She also demands a jury trial to resolve all issues.

Representing Dunn is attorney Joseph Uccello from Mickey Keenan P.A., while Judge Ken Burke will oversee Case Number 24-004038-CI.
