Nelson Mullins’ Boca Raton office has been a longtime supporter of Best Foot Forward (BFF), a nonprofit organization in Palm Beach County dedicated to the educational success of youth who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned and have entered the foster care system.

BFF will recognize the firm for its involvement with the 2024 Anchor Award at its annual award presentation event on Oct. 30 at the Boca West Country Club in Boca Raton.

Because of its commitment to community service and its support of the programs that BFF provides to foster children, the firm was chosen as this year’s recipient. Many people (both staff and attorneys) have spent hours in support of Best Foot Forward and also provided financial support.

BFF’s vision is for foster care and at-risk youth to be afforded the same educational opportunities as all other children, with the mission to empower foster care and at-risk youth to maximize their potential by providing essential academic support and guidance.

The Boca Raton office has shown its support of the nonprofit by hosting in-office get-togethers, wrapping holiday gifts, fundraisers, sponsoring its annual gala, purchasing school supplies, outfitting college dorm-rooms, and more.

“It means a great deal to me that the firm, attorneys, and staff all support the cause of educating foster children and setting them up for success in life,” said Boca Raton partner Jim Wheeler.

About Best Foot Forward

Best Foot Forward is a 501(c)3 agency based in Palm Beach County, Fla. that offers programs for foster care youth to provide the opportunity for academic success through a team-oriented approach.

Without dedicated guidance and support, children in foster care face unimaginable academic adversity due to a lack of basic skills, frequent changes to home and school placement, and emotional upheaval. Only 46% of youth in foster care graduate high school and less than 3% graduate college.

BFF’s programs afford these children a fair opportunity to become successful students and self-sufficient adults. To learn more about the Best Foot Forward organization visit https://bestfoot.org/.
