Astigarraga earns a Chambers Latin America Band 1 ranking for international arbitration

Reed Smith partner José Astigarraga has once again earned a Band 1 ranking from Chambers and Partners for his arbitration work in Latin America.

Astigarraga “[uses] exceptional knowledge of arbitration matters to assist an array of prestigious corporate clients with highly sophisticated commercial and investor-state arbitration cases throughout the region,” Chambers Latin America says in its 2025 review. A client quoted by Chambers said Astigarraga has “longstanding experience in the international arbitration arena and has a wide scope which includes investment cases in Latin America.” 

Astigarraga is one of only six lawyers worldwide ranked by Chambers in the top band of international arbitration practitioners for Latin America. He also is one of only nine lawyers ranked by Chambers in the top band of international arbitration practitioners in the United States. 

This is his 22nd year with rankings in Chambers USA and Chambers Global, and it is his 16th year ranked in Chambers Latin America.

In addition, Reed Smith gained a Chambers Latin America 2025 ranking for International Arbitration – International Counsel along with a select few international firms.
