A homeowner in Palm Beach County is seeking over $50,000 in damages from a local air conditioning company for alleged negligence that resulted in significant moisture-related damage to her property. Natalie Francois filed the complaint against Gulfstream Cooling, Inc. on June 26, 2024, in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County, Florida.
According to the complaint, Francois hired Gulfstream Cooling, Inc. in December 2021 to repair or replace the air conditioning system at her residence located at 6940 Silverado Terrace, Lake Worth, FL. The work was completed around the same time. However, shortly after the installation, Francois began experiencing severe moisture issues that caused extensive damage to her home.
The lawsuit alleges that Gulfstream Cooling failed to perform their duties with the level of care expected from professionals in the air conditioning industry. Specifically, Francois claims that the company did not properly size the new air conditioning unit for her home’s square footage and neglected to inspect and identify damaged or leaking ducts within the entire system. Furthermore, she accuses Gulfstream Cooling of failing to adequately seal critical components of the system such as ducts and plenums, which led to leaks and improper functioning of the air conditioning unit.
Francois asserts that these failures directly resulted in water leaks and moisture intrusion that caused substantial damage to her property. She is seeking compensation for various damages including repair and remediation costs, replacement costs, investigative expenses, loss of use of her home, and destruction of property.
In her filing with Keller, Keller, Caracuzzo, Cox & Belluccio as her legal representation, Francois demands a jury trial on all justiciable issues and seeks judgment against Gulfstream Cooling for damages exceeding $50,000.
The case has been assigned Case Number 502024CA005968XXXAMB Div: AN.
