A lawsuit filed in Palm Beach County, Florida, accuses a sober living facility of negligence leading to significant personal injuries. On June 14, 2024, John Valenty lodged a complaint against Life Integration Recovery, LLC in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit.

The complaint details an incident that occurred on August 16, 2022, at the defendant's facility located at 543 W Kalmia Drive, West Palm Beach. Valenty was present as an invitee or guest when he slipped and fell down a slippery stairwell. According to the filing, Life Integration Recovery had a duty to maintain safe premises and warn of any dangerous conditions but failed to do so. The plaintiff alleges that the facility negligently failed to correct or adequately address the hazardous condition of the stairwell despite being aware or should have been aware of its dangers.

Valenty's complaint outlines several specific accusations against Life Integration Recovery. He claims they neglected their responsibilities by not inspecting or repairing the slippery stairwell and failing to warn him about it. The lawsuit asserts that these omissions were particularly egregious because the condition was known to occur regularly and was thus foreseeable. As a result of this alleged negligence, Valenty sustained severe injuries including pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, loss of earnings, and aggravation of pre-existing conditions.

The plaintiff is seeking damages exceeding $50,001 along with costs related to the action. Additionally, he demands pre-judgment interest for out-of-pocket medical expenses from the date payments were made and compensation for actual wage losses if applicable. The case underscores his plea for a fair trial by jury to determine just compensation for his injuries.

Representing John Valenty is Barbara Walsh from Viles & Beckman L.L.C., based in Fort Myers. The case has been assigned Case Number: 502024CA005552XXXAMB.
