Congratulations to two recent FSU Law graduates on being selected to receive the Florida Bar Association Criminal Law Section's 2024 Student Scholarship Awards! Fabrizia Wade and Emma Hirschy will receive the awards and $2,500 cash scholarships at the upcoming Annual Florida Bar Convention on June 20. The presentation will be part of the Criminal Law Section Membership Reception & Awards Ceremony scheduled to take place 6:30 - 8:00 pm at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek & Waldorf Astoria in Orlando.

This scholarship is awarded annually to a select number of Florida law students who have shown a dedication to and an interest in the criminal justice system as trial and appellate practitioners. The goal of the scholarships is to encourage academic achievement, community service, and high ethical standards among law students pursuing careers in criminal law. Factors considered also include litigation skills and faculty recommendations.

Wade, who served as president of the FSU Law Trial Team and alumni coordinator for the Association of Criminal Justice, was also a proud member of the Black Law Students Association. Last summer Wade worked at the Department of Corrections and spent her spring semester as a certified legal intern working with the Office of the Public Defender. This summer, Wade is working with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps. She will soon begin working in the State Attorney's Office for the Fourth Judicial Circuit in Jacksonville.

Hirschy, who is a senior law clerk at Pumphrey Law, was an advocate with the FSU Law Trial Team and served as the president of the Association for Criminal Justice while at FSU Law. She was voted Best Advocate in the Wayne A. Hogan 2022 Intramural Competition and ranked as a finalist in the 2022 Summit Cup competition. Hirschy earned the title of best 2L advocate on the FSU Law Trial Team for the 2022-23 year. She also received the book award for her trial practice course during her second year of law school. Hirschy will soon be working in the State Attorney's Office for the Second Judicial Circuit in Tallahassee.

Congratulations again to Wade and Hirschy. We are very proud of you and look forward to your continued success!
