Kimberly A. Rice, as the personal representative of the estate of Ann Grace Rice, has filed a lawsuit against Sovereign Healthcare of Boynton Beach, LLC, doing business as Boynton Beach Rehabilitation Center. The case was filed in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida under Case Number 502024CA004452XXXAMB on May 13, 2024.

The plaintiff alleges that Ann Grace Rice suffered from respiratory failure due to inadequate care and supervision while residing at Boynton Beach Rehabilitation Center. Kimberly A. Rice is represented by Christina Martin from Ford, Dean & Rotundo, P.A., who claims that the facility failed to develop an adequate care plan and monitor Ann Grace Rice properly. The damages claimed exceed $50,000.

Ann Grace Rice passed away on May 2, 2022. The complaint details multiple failures by the defendant’s staff, including lack of proper supervision and training, which led to significant physical and emotional suffering for Ann Grace Rice before her death.

The plaintiff seeks compensatory damages for loss of dignity, pain and suffering, medical expenses, and other related costs. Additionally, Kimberly A. Rice demands a jury trial and reserves the right to seek punitive damages at a later date.
