In the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit, Palm Beach County, Florida, a lawsuit has been filed by Luz Gorndt against James W. Rodriguez, D.O., EM Alliance LLC, American Physician Partners LLC (also known as Emergency Specialists of Wellington LLC and True Partners Emergency Physicians LLC), and Wellington Regional Medical Center LLC. The case ID is 502024CA004004XXXAMB Div: Al and was filed on April 30, 2024.

The plaintiff Luz Gorndt, represented by her counsel, alleges that she received substandard medical care from the defendants which resulted in damages exceeding $50,000. The incident took place on November 21, 2021 when Ms. Gorndt visited Wellington Regional Medical Center with leg pain radiating from her back. She was examined by Dr. Rodriguez who misdiagnosed her condition as sciatica and discharged her.

Eight days later, upon visiting her primary care physician due to worsening symptoms, an ultrasound revealed an arterial occlusion and she was diagnosed with thrombosis. It was suspected that the thrombosis had developed approximately ten days prior.

Ms. Gorndt seeks judgment against Dr. Rodriguez for negligence leading to permanent injury, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, pain and suffering, lost income and future loss of earning capacity as well as incurred medical expenses. These damages are expected to continue for the remainder of her lifetime.
