Sandra Pyle sues Gulf Shore Facility for inadequate care and negligence

In the Circuit Court of the 6th Judicial Circuit in and for Pinellas County, Florida, Sandra Pyle, as Personal Representative of the Estate of Alma Perella, has filed a lawsuit against Gulf Shore Facility, Inc., doing business as Gulf Shore Care Center. The case number is 24-001380-CI and was filed on March 26, 2024.

The plaintiff alleges that the defendant failed to provide adequate care to Alma Perella during her residency at Gulf Shore Care Center between April and May 2022. This negligence resulted in the development and deterioration of pressure ulcers, infection, malnutrition, dehydration, and general neglect which contributed to her death on July 29, 2022.

The complaint states that Gulf Shore Facility Inc., a licensed health care facility provider in Pinellas County, Florida failed to develop an adequate care plan or properly monitor and supervise Alma Perella's treatment. The plaintiff seeks damages in excess of $50,000 exclusive of interest and costs.

Sandra Pyle is seeking judgment for violation of Alma Perella’s Resident’s Rights under Florida Statute §400. This includes the right to receive adequate and appropriate healthcare and protective services; to be treated courteously, fairly, with dignity; and to be free from mental and physical abuse.
