In the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, plaintiffs Michael John Nelson and Lori Nelson have filed a lawsuit against Wawa, Inc., a foreign profit corporation. The case, bearing ID 24-001607-CI, was filed on April 10, 2024. The lawsuit alleges negligence on the part of Wawa, Inc., leading to damages exceeding $50,000.

The plaintiffs' attorneys claim that on December 3, 2022, Michael John Nelson visited a Wawa store located at 8910 Ulmerton Road in Largo, Florida. It is alleged that due to negligent maintenance and inspection of the sidewalk around the store's entrance by Wawa, Inc., Mr. Nelson tripped and fell on an unsafe gap in the sidewalk.

As a direct result of this incident, Mr. Nelson reportedly sustained injuries to his body and extremities. These injuries have led to medical expenses, physical and mental pain and suffering, permanent injury to his body as a whole, loss of ability to lead a normal life, loss of wages and loss of wage earning capacity.

The plaintiffs are seeking judgment against Wawa Inc., demanding damages in excess of $50,000 along with other relief deemed appropriate by the court. They have also demanded a trial by jury on all issues that can be tried.
