An Iowa woman says she was seriously injured by a faulty air fryer.

Amphai Sourya Ranslem filed her complaint in federal court against TriStar Products Inc. alleging she was injured by a faulty Emeril Lagasse Pressure AirFryer Plus.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred February 2, 2022. Ranslem says she was able to remove the lid of the pressure cooker while it still retained pressure, causing her to sustain serious injuries as the hot contents were projected out.

Despite TriStar's assertions of safety measures built into the air fryer, Ranslem claims it suffers from dangerous defects. .

She accuses TriStar of knowing about these defects but choosing to prioritize profit over safety. She also says the company continued to sell its pressure cookers without warning consumers about potential risks and failed to recall the defective products.

Ranslem is seeking compensation for significant bodily injuries, medical expenses, physical pain, mental anguish and diminished enjoyment of life.
