Nicholas Sklar sues Manor Care of Boynton Beach FL for damages related to his father's death

In the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, Nicholas Sklar, as Personal Representative of the Estate of Martin Sklar, has filed a lawsuit against Manor Care of Boynton Beach FL, LLC (also known as ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation), HCR II Healthcare, LLC, and ProMedica Health System, Inc. The case number is 502024CA003054XXXAMB Div: AE and it was filed on April 2nd, 2024.

The plaintiff alleges that Martin Sklar became a resident at Manor Care of Boynton Beach FL, LLC on May 25th, 2022. Despite having an unsteady gait and being a high fall risk due to impaired balance and confusion, Martin Sklar suffered falls at the defendant's facility on September 30th and October 4th of the same year.

These falls resulted in multiple rib fractures that required surgeries. As a direct result of these injuries and subsequent complications from blunt trauma of the torso, Martin Sklar passed away on October 15th, 2022.

Nicholas Sklar is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 for the loss of support, services, companionship and protection from his father. He also claims to have incurred mental pain and suffering which will continue into the future. Additionally, he has had to cover medical and funeral bills as Personal Representative of Martin Sklar's estate.
