Charles Wells sues Florida State University Board of Trustees for unlawful employment practices

Charles Wells has filed a lawsuit against the Florida State University Board of Trustees in the Second Judicial Circuit Court for Leon County, Florida. The case, identified as 24-CA-2024 CA. 000459, was filed on March 19, 2024. The lawsuit is based on the Florida Whistleblower Act and the Florida Civil Rights Act.

Wells alleges that he was subjected to disparate treatment and retaliation due to his age, race, gender, and whistleblowing activities during his employment at the College of Medicine. He began working for the defendant on March 26, 2012, and was wrongfully terminated on June 5, 2023. The complaint also names several individuals including Georgia Arnold, Tiffany Ritter, Dr. Heather Flynn, Tracey Pearson, Sasa Stefanovic, Gorana Knezevic-Zec and Clint Harris as part of the alleged discriminatory practices.

The plaintiff seeks damages exceeding $50,000 exclusive of costs and interest for unlawful employment practices which include wrongful termination and disparate treatment based on age, race and gender.
