On March 7, 2024, a lawsuit was filed by Joseph Alaby against Best Buy Stores, L.P., in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida (Case Number: 502024CA002179XXXAMB). The plaintiff alleges negligence on part of the defendant during a refrigerator installation process which resulted in property damage.

Represented by Christopher W. Royer and Joseph J. Slama from Krupnick Campbell Malone Buser Slama Hancock, PA, Alaby asserts that Best Buy's employees caused damage to his townhouse while removing an old refrigerator and installing a new one. The incident took place on February 16, 2023, and resulted in damages to the wall of the stairway and flooring around it.

The complaint further details that despite four employees being assigned for the task, only two were present initially. The plaintiff argues that this inadequate staffing contributed to the negligent handling of the appliances leading to damages. The cost of these damages is estimated to be over $50,000.

Alaby seeks judgment for damages against Best Buy Stores according to law along with interest, costs, and trial by jury for all issues triable as of right by jury.
