In the Circuit Court of Leon County, Florida, plaintiff Robert Bouie has filed a lawsuit against Arbor Construction, LLC. The case (ID: 2024 CA 000445) was filed on March 15, 2024, and seeks damages exceeding $50,000 for alleged violations of the Florida Civil Rights Act of 1992, the Florida Private Whistleblower Act, and the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.

The plaintiff alleges that Arbor Construction misclassified him as a 1099 employee and failed to pay overtime. He also claims retaliation after reporting unsafe working conditions to OSHA and discriminatory treatment based on his race. The defendant is said to have grossed over $500k per year and operated a business at 4910 Monroe Street, Tallahassee.

Bouie began working for Arbor Construction in April 2017 and was terminated on May 15, 2023. He claims he was demoted due to his race by his supervisor Joey Fissanick who allegedly self-identified as a white supremacist. This treatment was reportedly witnessed by Cambriss Morrison and Micha Muchison.

The plaintiff is seeking declaratory, injunctive, legal and equitable relief along with attorneys’ fees, costs and damages for injuries resulting from these alleged violations. The complaint intends to redress injuries from not only these specific incidents but also any unlawful violation of multiple federal and state laws by the defendant.
