Katherine Kaneb has filed a lawsuit against Fisher Potter & Hodas, PLLC, Benjamin T. Hodas, Brendon O. Carrington, and Squire Patton Boggs (US) LLP in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida. The case number is 502024CA002449XXXAMB Div: AG and was filed on March 15, 2024. The lawsuit alleges negligence by multiple lawyers and two law firms for failing to correctly document a divorce settlement agreement.

The plaintiff hired the defendants to represent her in her divorce from Mark Bellissimo. However, the defendants allegedly presented an incorrect document for execution which resulted in the plaintiff having to pay almost $4.75 million to correct their mistake. Furthermore, the defendants were unable to negotiate any progress in settling the divorce which led to legal fees of approximately one million dollars.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 exclusive of costs, interest and attorneys’ fees due to this alleged negligence. She claims that she had no financial interest in a certain trust as per the divorce settlement but was incorrectly made responsible for it due to the defendants' error.
