In the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, Amelia Lee-Smith has filed a lawsuit against Catalina Shoppes Fla LLC. The case, identified as 502024CA002393XXXAMB Div: AF, was filed on March 14, 2024. The plaintiff alleges negligence on the part of the defendant resulting in personal injury.

Represented by her counsel, Lee-Smith claims that she suffered serious bodily injuries due to a fall at a drive-in restaurant owned and managed by Catalina Shoppes Fla LLC. The incident occurred on May 18, 2020, when she slipped on a blue painted line in the parking lot area after exiting the restaurant during rainfall.

The plaintiff alleges that her fall was caused by water puddling on the premises which the defendant permitted to remain and exacerbated by their failure to use non-slip surfaces in areas where water can be expected. She seeks damages in excess of $50,000 for negligence.

Lee-Smith is seeking judgment against Catalina Shoppes Fla LLC for their alleged failure to maintain safe conditions at their premises and adequately warn visitors about potential hazards. She accuses them of carelessly failing to exercise reasonable care with respect to maintenance and inspection of their premises and not implementing procedures requiring staff to report possible unsafe conditions.
