In the Circuit Court of the Second Judicial Circuit, Leon County, Florida, Jennie Cheney (also known as Jennie Keen) has filed a lawsuit against MHM Health Professionals LLC, Centurion of Florida LLC, and the Florida Department of Corrections. The case number is 24-CA-2924 CA 000375 and was filed on March 4, 2024. The lawsuit alleges violations under the Florida Whistleblower Act and Chapter 448 of the Florida Statutes.

Cheney claims that she faced retaliation after reporting unlawful employment practices by her employers. She was employed by all three defendants and began her tenure on November 8, 2021. Cheney held the position of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) until her alleged wrongful termination on November 15, 2022.

The plaintiff asserts that despite her stellar work performance, she was subjected to disparate treatment and different terms and conditions of employment because she reported unlawful activities by her employers. She specifically mentions Captain Teems from the Department of Corrections, Stephanie Geiger from Centurion's Health Services, Director of Nursing D. Kelly from Centurion, and Krystle Roberson also from Centurion's nursing department.

Cheney is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 exclusive of costs and interest for what she describes as malfeasance, misfeasance or gross misconduct by her employers.
