Yessenia Maria Escobar Canales sues City of West Palm Beach for negligent operation of a motor vehicle causing damage

In the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Court of Palm Beach County, Florida, Yessenia Maria Escobar Canales has filed a lawsuit against the City of West Palm Beach. The case, identified as 502024CA002291 XXXAMB Div: AD, was filed on March 12, 2024.

The plaintiff's attorney, Shannon Perez from Keller, Melchiorre & Walsh, PLLC alleges that on September 4, 2020, Thomas John Cortese negligently operated a motor vehicle resulting in a collision with Canales' car. The complaint further states that Cortese was an employee of the defendant city at the time of the accident.

As a result of this accident, Canales claims to have suffered bodily injury and mental anguish among other damages. She also experienced loss of earnings and her vehicle was damaged requiring repair or replacement.

Canales is seeking judgment against the City of West Palm Beach for damages exceeding $50,000 and other relief deemed just by the court. She also demands a trial by jury on all triable issues.
