MIAMI – A passenger is suing Royal Caribbean after allegedly sustaining severe injuries from a fall down the stairs while entering an on-board jacuzzi on a cruise ship.
Plaintiff Kelly Larowe filed a lawsuit in federal court against Royal Caribbean Group, formerly known as Royal Caribbean Cruises, citing allegations of general negligence, negligent failure to warn and negligent failure to maintain.
According to the lawsuit, on October 19, 2022, Larowe was a passenger aboard Symphony of the Seas and claims she fell down the stairs while entering an on-board jacuzzi, resulting in severe injuries.
Larowe alleges the defendant breached its duty to provide reasonable care under the circumstances by failing to ensure the safety of the stairway and flooring surfaces and neglecting to warn passengers about potential hazards and previous incidents. In her lawsuit, Larowe lists several other lawsuits against Royal Caribbean that involved similar incidents on the same or similar steps and adjacent deck areas.
The plaintiff is seeking judgment for damages including physical pain, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, disability, disfigurement, medical expenses, lost wages and impairment of working ability.
