Michele Miller will be a moderator at the ABA's 2022 Litigation Section Annual Conference. While the pandemic has impacted all aspects of the legal profession, it has had a profound impact on female attorneys. Before the pandemic, legal scholars had already recognized a troubling trend: too many experienced women lawyers were leaving the profession. The pandemic has, unfortunately, only accelerated this trend, heightening the stress and inequalities faced by women-at work and at home, particularly those with caregiver responsibilities. This program will examine this exodus of women lawyers and the factors that make the pandemic particularly disruptive for women in the profession. The panel will also discuss steps that can be taken to create a more gender balanced recovery and equity in the ongoing and post-pandemic world.
