Mother sues restaurant for shooting death of her son

TALLAHASSEE - The mother of a man shot in the parking lot of a restaurant and bar is suing the establishment for negligence. 

Gloria J. Stewart, as personal representative of the estate of Tevin T. Thomas, filed a lawsuit on Dec. 31 in the Leon County Circuit Court against Prime Tallahassee, Inc. for negligence. 

According to the lawsuit, on Oct. 26, 2021, Thomas visited Prime Time restaurant and bar. Tevin, leaving around 2 a.m., walked towards his vehicle in the parking lot of the establishment when an unknown armed assailant discharged their firearm, shooting and killing him, the suit says.

Stewart was caused to suffer loss of support and services, future losses of support and services, loss of rental companionship, instruction and guidance, past and future mental pain and suffering, funeral arrangements and medical care expenses.

Stewart is represented by Matthew Williams of Tallahassee.
