Iris Escarra, Co-Chair of Greenberg Traurig, P.A.’s global Land Use & Development Practice, has been elected to the Friends of The Underline Board of Directors. As a board member, she will provide guidance relating to operations, fundraising, government relations and other issues.
Friends of The Underline is creating a 120-acre linear park spanning 10-miles and located below Miami’s Metrorail, which will transform regional mobility through urban trails and creative programming, according to The Underline’s website. The first of three phases has opened in Brickell Backyard and includes a bike path, basketball court, outdoor gym, walking trails, native plant gardens, and more.
“I’m thrilled to be involved in a project like The Underline that will connect the community to the environment in a healthy and sustainable way,” Escarra said. “I look forward to lending my experience in the area of land use to help continue to develop this important asset for our community.”
At Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office, Escarra focuses her practice on land use, zoning, and procurement matters, and is certified by The Florida Bar as an expert in city, county, and local government law. She represents landowners and developers in every phase of a property's development and operation, including conducting due diligence regarding the property's development potential, obtaining all local and state entitlements for new construction, redevelopment, and the introduction of new uses or the preservation of existing uses.
