TALLAHASSEE - Kesha K. Beharry filed a complaint on October 1 in Leon County Circuit Court against the Agency for Persons with Disabilities for race discrimination, national origin discrimination, color discrimination, gender discrimination and retaliation.
According to the complaint, Beharry began her employment with Defendant on Aug. 7, 2017, until her discharge on Jan. 3, 2018. Beharry alleges that she was required to share office space and a conference room with other coworkers, while non-minority, non-female attorneys were given their own private offices.
Beharry alleges multiple attempts to discuss with Defendant the allocation of appropriate and available resources to minority female attorneys, but the defendant refused. Beharry alleges that one of her supervisors warned her that Defendant had a pattern and practice of discrimination and retaliation against those who filed complaints. Beharry believes that she was ultimately given a constructive termination due to her race.
Beharry seeks judgment against Defendant to grant equitable relief, general and compensatory damages and economic loss, cost of suit and attorney fees. Beharry is represented by Marie A. Mattox.
