TAMPA -- A mother is suing the Hillsborough County School Board for allegedly allowing her daughter to repeatedly undergo physical and verbal assaults while at school.

Latosha Jones, as parent and natural guardian of A.T., a minor, filed a complaint on September 29 in Hillsborough County Circuit Court against the Hillsborough County School Board for negligent supervision of a student.

According to the complaint, A.T. was a student at Lamb Elementary School when on Aug. 1, 2019, A.T. was physically and verbally assaulted by other students while attending school. Jones alleges she repeatedly notified officials at the school of the ongoing assaults but they failed to enforce policies or provide sufficient security to stop the attacks.

Jones alleges that teachers who were supposed to be supervising the children, particularly during lunch, were not doing so, which allowed for the assaults on her daughter to take place.

Jones is represented by John Patino of Moragn and Morgan, P.A.
