TAMPA -- A woman is suing an apartment complex after a man was killed there.
April Stokes, as personal representative of the estate of Tyler Ford, filed a complaint on September 8 in Hillsborough County Circuit Court against Boardwalk Morris Bridge Apartments, LLC, Boardwalk Morris Bridge Management, Inc., Boardwalk Morris Bridge SPE, LLC, and Boardwalk Morris Bridge SPE II, LLC for wrongful death, negligence, premises negligence and injury.
According to the complaint, Ford was on the premises of the Boardwalk Morris Bridge Apartments when he suffered a gunshot wound that killed him on Sept. 10, 2019. Stokes alleges that it is the negligence of the Boardwalk Morris Bridge Apartments for not taking the necessary steps to prevent harm to tenants, invitees and the public from criminal acts and attacks.
The company's employees knew or should have known that their premises and areas adjacent were in a high-crime area.
Stokes is represented by David J. Gillis.
