TAMPA -- A woman is suing the apartments where she lived for her child's drowning death.

Barbara Feliciano, as personal representative of the estate of Sthella Lopez Feliciano, filed a complaint on July 25 in Hillsborough County Circuit Court against Rivertree Landing Apartments, LLC and First Communities Management, Inc. for negligence.

According to the complaint, Barbara Feliciano and Sthella Lopez Feliciano, a minor, resided at the Rivertree Landing Apartments. Sthella allegedly gained access to an unsecured area of the Hillsborough River adjacent to the premises, became submerged, and was deprived of oxygen, thereby suffering catastrophic injuries, including permanent and irreversible brain damage. Sthella died on Feb. 24, 2020.

Barbara Feliciano seeks judgment for damages exclusive of attorney’s fees, costs, and interest. Feliciano is represented by Shelby R. Walton of the Haggard Law Firm.
