TALLAHASSEE -- A woman is suing her former employer for whistleblower retaliation.

Lisa Girard filed a complaint on July 8 Leon County Circuit Court against Playbig Learning Center, LLC, for whistleblower retaliation.

According to the complaint, Girard was hired at the Playbig Learning Center as a teacher on Dec. 8, 2019. Girard filed, per email, many complaints including a violent child being dumped into her classroom without notice or preparation, a non-verbal autistic child escaping through a defective door three times in a week, and other various issues with the facility, the suit says.

Complaints were ignored, as were the physical issues with the building that allowed for children to escape and be present in an unsafe facility, the suit claims. Girard was later terminated.

Girard seeks judgment against Playbig Learning Center, attorney's fees and cost of suit. Girard is represented by Richard E. Johnson.
