ORLANDO -- A moving company is accused of failing to deliver a woman's property, which included her late husband's ashes.
Andrea Morain filed a complaint on June 14 in Orange County Circuit Court against Orlando Last Minute Movers for breach of contract, negligence, negligent misrepresentation and deceptive and unfair trade practices.
According to the complaint, on Nov. 5, 2020, Morian contracted with Orlando Last Minute Movers and paid a flat fee of $3,200 to move her household goods from California to Virginia Beach, Va.
By Dec. 1, 2020, Marian reached out to Orlando Last Minute Movers, which told her "Monday through Wednesday for delivery we will be loading Friday if not sooner," and "looking for a load coming back this way from your area," the suit says.
On Dec. 4, 2020, Morian emailed Orlando Last Minute Movers inquiring the status of her belongings, On Dec. 9, 2020, she was advised that her property was to leave Friday morning, she says.
On Jan. 17, 2021, she was advised that the truck moving her property had broken down and her items were safe, and that her items were held and being stored at Extra Space Storage in Modesto, California, the suit says.. On Jan, 28, Morian emailed with no response, she says. On March 25, 2021, Morian learned that her items were being held up for auction for lack of payment, she says.
Morian estimates the loss of her property to be valued at $500,000. Morian is represented by Geiffrey L. Pfeiffer, Jr..
