TALLAHASSEE -- A woman is suing the owner of a barbershop after he allegedly killed her husband.
Cassandra McKinney, spouse and executor of the estate of Tyras McKinney, filed a complaint on June 17 in Leon County Circuit Court against Darnell Eutsay, Southside Cutters, LLC d/b/a Clippers Hair Salon and Mahan Investments, Inc. for negligence and wrongful death.
According to the complaint, on June 20, 2019, McKinney was at Clippers. Darnell Eutsay, the owner, and Xaver Barkley, a barber, were both present. An argument broke out between Barkley and McKinney, when Barkley allegedly grabbed McKinney's three-year-old son and held a gun to his head and threatened his life.
Barkley then allegedly released the child after McKinney begged for his child's life, and Barkley shot McKinney twice, killing him.
Cassandra McKinney seeks to recover damages under the Wrongful Death Act and litigation costs. McKinney is represented by Carrie Mendrick Roane.
